I have just moved from XP|Office 2003 to Win7|Office 2007 and am
having difficulty with importing data, which I was able to do in 2003.
I've moved over my existing database and spreadsheets from 2003, but
have not converted them to the native 2007 formats.
My specific problem is:
1 I am able to link to the database, then
2 I am able to select my table (query)
3 I get to the Import Data - I select Table on the Existing worksheet
4 When I click Properties I get Connection Properties
5 What I really want is External Data Range Properties - where I
deselect: Include Field Names, Adjust Column Width, and select
Overwrite existing cells - all to save my formatting in the excel
spreadsheet
6 Since I'm not getting to that screen if I Import Data (step 3 above)
my data comes in, but it blows out all my formatting / column widths.
7 If I then delete the data but not the link the next time I open the
spreadsheet I'm able to edit the External Data Range Properties, but
by then all the formatting is gone in the spreadsheet.
I need a way to manipulate the External Data Range Properties before
it blows out my formatting.
Thanks.
