Office 2003 on Vista

Hello,

I am trying to download Office 2003 Standard Edition from a CD onto my new
laptop with a Vista OS. I have a license for the software and I downloaded
Office 2003 Service Pack 3. But I continue to get an error message as soon as
I attempt to run the program that says:
"Settings fil E:\FILES\SETUP\SETUP.INI is missing or invalid"
Can anyone offer any solutions to this problem?

Thanks!

The "path" seems a bit odd, are you installing Office or the Service Pack?

For terminology "install" and "download" are two completely different
things. "Download" is nothing more than "copying" files from a server or
external drive to a local drive, while "install" is the act of running
the installation package so that the software can be configured and
used. Example: you "Download" a service pack from the web to your PC and
then you run Setup to "install" it.

Is Office installed, and if not are you trying to install it from the
CD? Also are you installing this while logged on with administrator
privileges?

Thank you for explaining the terminology Bob. I am trying to install
Microsoft Office from the CD not the service pack. So it is not currently
installed...and yes, I am the administrator on the computer.

Thanks!

Did you just put the CD in the drive and let it "Auto run"? Or did you
have to navigate to the "setup" file. I am not familiar with Vista, but
there may be something else interfering. The CD is clean, no scratches, etc.
