Hi Werner,
Do you mean that the file was original created in MAC Office 98/2001? What is the file format, *.doc, *.docx, or others?
Please send one example document to me at (e-mail address removed) for further research.
At this point, I recommend you to install the compatibility pack on the computer with Office 2003 to see if it works.
------------------------
1. On the computer with Office 2003, go to Microsoft update site to check and install the latest updates.
2. Go to the following link to download the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466
3. Install the downloaded patch.
4. Try to open the old Word 98/2001 docs. What is the result?
If it doesn't work, perform a full installation for Office 2003 to see if it works.
------------------------
1. Click Start menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
2. Choose Office 2003 entry, click Change. Choose Add or Remove Features, click Next.
3. Check "Choose advanced customization of applications.", click Next.
4. Click the right button of the entry "Microsoft Office", Choose "Run All from My Computer", click Update.
5. Try to open the old Word 98/2001 docs. What is the result?
If Word still starts with a file conversion box, take a screen shot of it and send it to me at (e-mail address removed). It is very important for us
to resolve the issue more efficiently. Thanks for your cooperation and patience.
How to take a screen shot, please follow the steps below:
------------------------------------------------------------------
a. When screen shows up, press the Print Screen key (right of F12 key) Note: nothing will happen.
b. Open MS Paint program (click Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Paint).
