Office 2003 Pro, sp1 will not install

T

Tim Dailey

Have tried updating to sp1 on the Office 2003. Tried the
auto update and it will not install. Downloaded the
client version and tried to install and still no luck. My
girl friend had no problem installing it on her computer.
It did install the Outlook and the frontpage sp1 update.
It just won't update the Office 2003 main program. No
error messages or anyting, Just says can not install.
Help.

I am having the same problem. I tried using Office
Update, downloading the client and the full installs and
it still will not works. I am a MS Partner and have the
Action Pack kit. I wonder is it has something to do with
that.

Log files are created in the '%temp%\ohotfix' folder that provide an
indication of what might be causing the installation to fail. The file you
want will have a name like 'OHotfix(0000x).log' where 'x' is a number. It
will likely be the most recent of these files. It should be a relatively
small file (mine is only 4kb), and if you attach it in a reply, I'll review
it.

The Action Pack Kit should have no bearing on your problem.

Very frustrating... I get the won't install, no reason.

I have no directorys or filenames anything like what you
have posted numerous times, so your answer does not
contain the entire universe of install problems.

Maybe you should stop doing that, as it may be
discouraging someone with the correct answer from
speaking up.

I am also simply getting the "Won't Install" error message with no reason.
Oddly, FrontPage DID install the SP1, but when it got Office apps it "won't
install." Again, oddly, the about box in Word now says SP1 even though the
install have never worked.
