Office 2003, product update fails after W32/Mydoom.f@MM

One of the workstations on my network got the
W32/Mydoom.f@MM virus. It did not spread to the network or
any device on the network. I removed the virus and cleaned
the workstation, but every time I start Outlook it windows
installer starts-up to install office 2003. It is not
successful and stops after a number of attempts. Also,
detect and repair, and MS product updater faisl to
complete. (MS product updater will detect OK but cannot
install any updates.

Does anyone have the same problem? any suggested fix?

Note; the workstation is configured with Windows XP and
Office 2003 Professional.
