office 2003 products shut down when typing or clicking hyperlink

i have a xp perfessional system that every time you type a hyperlink, in all
of the office products, or click on one the app shutsdown. i dont get any
error, and nothing shows up in event view.
i've reinstalled many times, removed the registry entries for office. still
happeneing.
this happens to all users on that machine, even new users.

its also doing it if the link is to a file, not just to the web.
is there a way to completely remove the office files and then do a reinstall?
