Are any error codes given? Are you running Office Update on an
administrator account? If you're not you should be. If that does not work
select Start · Run, then type "%windir%/Downloaded Program Files" and
press enter. Right-click "Office Update Installation Engine" and select
"Remove". Now try running Office Update again, you should be prompted to
install the new ActiveX control.

Tried repair & reinstall on three computers; all installations or
repairs quit with fatal error.
Took one workstation and uninstalled office and then reinstalled it.
Went to office update site. Office service pack 1 failed to install
along with several other updates.

Last month my system(s) failed to install the Outlook Junk email
updates. This month none on the office updates will install on any of
my computers.
