office 2003 re-activation

We are a MS system builder. We supplied a computer with Office 2003 Pro
(oem) about 3 years ago that is now having a problem. Over the last 3 years
we have done several hardware upgrades for our customer on this computer.
Just before Christmas (2 weeks ago) we installed a new DVD-RW. After this
hardware change, Office 2003 wanted to be re-activated. The validation code
was judged to be invalid by both machine and India person. We deleted the
opk.dat file for office. The validation code changed but again was judged to
be invalid. I uninstalled and re-installed office with same results.

I was told by an Indian person that we must contact the manufacturer to
resolve this problem. WE are the manufacturer!! Microsoft has no OEM Office
tech support number that I can find - after hours of looking. We were
supplied no training by Microsoft for this issue. I could not find anything
about this in the knowledge base.

I refuse to pay $50 to listen to an untrained India person tell me to
re-format the hard drive on the consumer tech support number.

Can you offer any insight on what caused this and how to resolve this? If
you tell me to re-format and do a clean install I'm NOT going to be happy.
