Office 2003 Re-Activation

W

wincom

Last weekend, I installed and activated Office 2003 Pro OEM on a machine. Due
to a corruption in Outlook ( I think one of the updates toasted it), I
uninstalled and reinstalled Office. After reinstall, it asked for
reactivation. When I tried internet it said I had reached the limit of
activation. When I tried phone, the activation screen disappeared. This is
the same exact computer I had just hours before activated it on. This is not
a piracy thing. When I called the MS phone activation line, I got the answer
that I had to speak to support before they could do anything. I paid for an
email support incident and the support person said the best thing I could do
is to call phone # X ( which just happened to be the MS prododuct activation
#). I am not a fan of going in circles. I am firmly behind product
activation and reduction of piracy. I am getting very annoyed though at the
lack of assistance from MS on this issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Milly. I am the " Computer Manufacturer". I purchased a laptop for a client
and installed Office as I have for hundreds of others. Since I purchase the
products in OEM 3 packs, there is no recourse of resolution except through
these kinds of forums. I maintain that while it is important to protect the
intellectual property of Microsoft through product activation, people who do
not pirate software should have a way of keeping their customers satisfied.
This load became corrupted through what I think was a bad update. I
uninstalled the software to hopefully correct the corruption. It did fix the
corruption, but now I have this problem.

I, too, build OEM PCs and use OEM software. Sometimes, I'll load the said
software and will try to activate it when the wizard tells me that it can't
be activated -- a.k.a. already been activated. I know it's BS as i just
unwrapped the software & know it's never been installed prior to this point!
I just call MS (the activation phone #) and explain to them what happened.
They should be able to help you out too.
