Office 2003 recently used file list

Under Tools - Options - General - the recently used file list is greyed out.
How do I get it back so that files are displyed?

Hi John,

This can happen if you're using TweakUI or another
Windows setting and registry app.

In TweakUI see if turning on the Explorer settings for
- Allow Recent Document on Start
- Maintain Document History (try just the first setting first)

There may also be a security/firewall product where
this happens as well as a policy (if you're in a
corporate setting) that an Administrator may have set.

In some cases doing a Repair of Office will fix it
if the TweakUI settings don't.
