Office 2003 reinstalled now Access won't run

B

Bernard Forbes

I've had to reinstall Access on one PC that had an "issue" with the windows
update release of IE7 when it was already running a beta version - basically
I've reinstalled everything from scratch because the auto update release
version of IE7 stalled and left the machine without windows explorer, so it
wouldn't do anything.

Anyhow, that's not the issue - since reloading Office 2003 Pro SP2 it won't
allow me to run Access, all I get is the installer running and then it closes
and nothing happens. I'm using the October 2003 release volume licence
install disc of MSO Enterprise Edition and it just won't let access run, all
the other applications do.

Am on XP SP2, fully up to date.

Any help on this becaue I can't find anyone else with a simlar problem. And
I've unistalled and reinstalled and it still won't run Access

I am having a problem that sounds very similar: After installing IE7, I'm
not able to run Access, I get the same installer running and then it closes
and nothing happens (message received during first try at running Access
with no Error messages, after that, using Setup I get the following...).
I've tried Setup > Reinstall or Repair and Setup > Add or Remove features
with the same error messages:

Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the
inconvienence. An error occoured during the installation and Setup was
unable to complete.

Please send data to Microsoft about this problem (or something like that...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hopefully, someone will let us know of a fix for our dilemma - I've searched
but don't find much other than something referring to an installer file -
since it has warnings about consequences, I think I 'll wait for an
experienced step by step. If that's possible....

What's the betting it's an IE7 thing - I have it running too, and am
sitting
here fiddling with a laptop that's thankfully only got IE6 as well as a
functional version of Access

I had a similiar proble, only I couldnt use access, rest of office was
fine, I unitstalled office 2003, I wasnt able to install it again,
thru some research aan answers I received on other sites I think I have
the solution, havent tried it fully yet

I found out that my problem was related to a failed install of .net
framework, I had recently updated to version 2.0 and then an update
from the windows update site, the update failed.

Ill let you know what i find out when i go home and try to follow the
steps I received.

hope this may have helped
