Office 2003 Service Pack 2 Update Failure

B

Bob1954

Can anyone help? I have lost count of the number of attempts to install SP2
for Office 2003. Keep getting the same error code: 0x80070643

I've so far tried out the folowing: Replace the OSE.EXE file. Then I
unistalled Office 2003 and re-installed it but still no luck. Cannot even use
the on-line support as the submission fails everytime I try

Must be a way of sorting this surely?

Hi "bob1954",

I have the same problem. My post is called "installing Microsoft updates".
I got so far one reply:
*******
Hi,

If online installation failed, you may wish to download each full version
(except for the Outlook junk mail filter update) and try to install from the
local drive.

Also a reminder - before you install from the local drive, try clean up temp
files and disable as many auto-start programs as possible including firewall
and anti-virus.

In many cases, that should solve the problem although specific reasons for
why online installation oftentimes failed - remained unknown.

*******

I tried as stated in the message above, but it didn't work. I just wanted
to let you know. If you get something that solves the issue, I would be much
obliged. I will keep you informed when a reply to my post delivers results.

Bye for now,
Peter

Thanks for this. I tried the suggestion but still no success. Looking at the
other questions I am certainly not alone in this - there must be a way - I
have even tried to submit my problem to Microsoft using the on-line support
function but this fails every time also - anyone for Linux?

Bob, please try searching the forums for that error number, I believe people
have been able to resolve that issue.

Otherwise make sure you have run Detect and Repair on all office products,
and tried downloading the fullfile version of the update. You mentioned you
have tried several fixes, please list them so I can suggest additional ones.
