Office 2003 Service Pack 2 will not install, why not?

I have Windows XP Home and Office 2003 with automatic checking for security
updates and am up to date with all SPs and other updates. Today I have
downloaded SP2 for Office 2003 but it does not matter which install method I
try all I get is a message box with the unhelpful message 'Updates were
unable to be successfully installed' and quoting Office 2003 Service Pack 2.

After several attempts I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any
suggestions gratefully accepted.

I have tried allthe suggestions posted alongside yours, but still no good
for my computer/Office SP2 update.

I found this MS Article on Office Update Issues and carried out all the work
but still no good:

Hi Viv

I have just successfully installed Office SP2 Update by using the larger
101mb update called "Office2003SP2-KB887616-FullFile-ENU.exe". I got it via
dilaup...it took AGES. Installed without a hitch.

How's your luck so far?
