Office 2003 Setup errors

Dell Optiplex GX260 w/W2000 and Office XP. Upgraded OS to XP Professional
using vol license key - worked fine. Rebooted and ran Office 2003 Setup and
I get "Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OptionalComponents\MAPI.
Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact
Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information
about how to contact PSS, see c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\1033\PSS10R.chm." I also get the same error but referencing
the ...Setup\migration.dlls.

I see a reference in the KB but not for WinXP. Since it indicates a registry
problem and it is not in the HKCU subtree (which contains current user's
data) it may be caused because of Windows migrated incorrect registry
entries. First, I might try manually create an empty key at the place where
setup says it using regedit.exe (note this must be a last step as registry
editor (if used wrong) may render your computer unusable) or simply using a
3rd party registry checkup tool.
