The only change that I think was going to happen in your post was a
documentation update. The article that you're referring to had a badly
designed web service.

So you are telling me that we can not bind a rich text box
control to a element from a web service with the last
release office 2003 service pack 1!
All right, so why doesn't microsoft update this how-to
(link below) to put it clearly that is not possible with
the SP1?
The how-to :

No, you absolutely can do the binding of a Rich Text Box to a web service.
The support did change with Service Pack 1. I believe that nodes in DataSets
have to be typed now, and the sample has them as untyped. The documentation
contains an error, which hasn't yet been fixed. You should see the update
here or on the InfoPath team blog when that change happens.

Sorry, we're just locked in a misunderstanding. You are correct, you can't
do binding to the webservice from the article using SP1. However, you can
get Rich Text binding to webservices, just not by following the article.
Updates are coming to help you out, but I can't tell you the timeline.

I have been unable to install SP1. I have the academic version and my disc
does not contain SKU 001.cab which the install program calls for. What do I
do? Perhaps the service pack does not apply to the academic version?

I don't have the answer, but you should repost this in its own thread. Most
people will not notice it in an unrelated thread.
