I've been fighting with SP2 all day and now I can't use any of my
Office apps.
It first started with the Windows Automatic Updates install of SP2.
When I clicked ok to install the updates, a message would come up
saying the SP2 update could not be installed.
Then I tried using officeupdate.com to install SP2. It also said the
update could not be installed.
Then I tried downloading the 100mb SP2 offline installer to update
Office. Now I got a more precise error message. It says, "Error 1926.
Could not set file security for file "E:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Microsoft\MSDAIPP\OFFLINE\'. Error: 5. Verify
that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions
for this file.
I haven't done ANYTHING to the folder permissions on my computer so
anyone can write to this folder.
The worst part is I wanted to check my email in Outlook, and now
everytime I start ANY Office app, the update installer starts up and
triest to install SOMETHING and won't let me use the program!
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
JP
