Office 2003 SP2 update does not install

Dave

I have tried to install the new SP and continue to get the message that the
upgrade did not install. There is no error message number. Just a message
that the installation was unsuccessful. I am at a loss as to what to do. I
have tried Office Update adn MS update with the same results.

Dave,
There are a number of suggestions in this newsgroup. Have you
tried them?

Cheers, Peter.

Thank you Peter. I tried many things. What worked as leaving the Office CD
in the drive while running the update. Nothing else worked that I read on
the list.

That's a new one to add to the list of possible solutions!

Glad you're sorted, Peter.

I've been struggling with the same problem for several days and finally just
resolved it. I tried the suggestion made by some that I install the update
with my original office disk still in the drive with the same result --
installation failed. Another post suggested that you download the "full file"
version of the service pack, which is the version you are supposed to use if
you do NOT have access to your original installation disks. I tried this, and
the installer asked me to insert my office Front Page original disk. This
finally worked for me, but it is annoying that I had to go through the
trouble of a) downloading the full file version -- a huge file, and b) the
full file version STILL required me to have access to my disks! I'm not
certain what someone who doesn't have access to their original disks is
supposed to do.
