Office 2003 SP3 ADM - Missing GPO setting for Outlook!

B

Bob

I've been fine with Office 2003 SP1 ADM's and I decided to install the SP3
versions. But I find the outlk11.adm is missing a GPO setting that the
"Office 2003 Group Policies.xls" states is still in place. It was in place in
SP1, but it is missing in SP3.

The spreadsheet in SP1 and SP3 clearly state the following GPO exists for
Outlook:

Default location for PST files
Default location for OST files

But the only one that remains in SP3 is:

Default location for PST files

What happened to the "Default location for OST files"? Without this
setting, I'm affaid all my OST's will follow the path that is set in the
"Default location for PST files" (which in my case are not the same).

You can find these two GPO settings in the new spreadsheet on row 1508 under
"Miscellaneous\PST Settings".

Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Yes, the same situation occurs on my end. It is caused that the part "Default location for OST files" was deleted in the outlk11.adm
(SP3). Don't know why.

We can follow the steps below to get it back.

1. Open the file outlk11.adm (SP1) in Notepad.
2. Search for "Default location for OST files". Copy the part from POLICY to END POLICY.
----------------------------------------------
POLICY "Default location for OST files"
KEYNAME Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook
PART "Enter the path where OST files should be stored locally" EDITTEXT
VALUENAME ForceOSTPath
END PART
END POLICY
----------------------------------------------

3. Open the file outlk11.adm (SP3) in Notepad. Paste the above part to the same position as it in outlk11.adm (SP1)
4. Go to the GPO. Remove the original template outlk11.adm (SP3). Re-add the edited template.

What is the result?

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the confirmation Emily and I'll give your circumvention a try.

Is there anyway to report this to Microsoft so that they have an opportunity
to fix it?

Thanks!
