I upgraded to Office Professional 2007 from Office SE 2003 in February 2007.
Today, Microsoft Update says I should install Office 2003 SP3 Update. I
discovered that I do have Office 2003 Web Components still on my PC.

My question is: How can I tell if I still need to use Office 2003 Web
Components? If I still need to use it, then I will install the Office 2003
SP3 Update. Otherwise, if I don't need Office 2003 Web Components, I would
like to remove it so I won't continue to be prompted by Microsoft Updates to
install the Office 2003 SP3 Update.

Many thanks for your help!

I have only seen the component used in Sharepoint web sites. However not
knowing what type of web site/portals you work with, I can only say that if
you decide to uninstall it, that you can download OWC from Microsoft and
reinstall/patch it if you later notice that you need the features offered by
it.

Thanks for your advice. Alternatively, IF I do install the update, is there a
potential conflict with my Office 2007 applications?

None that I am aware of since OWC is depreciated* in Office 2007.

/neo

* Means didn't ship with or used by. Microsoft is encouraging developers to
shift away from OWC to use other technologies.

Just a point of semantics - it is DEPRECATED, not Depreciated. Deprecated
means discontinued, depreciated is an accounting term. Deprecated is what
Microsoft uses in all of their documentation on the website.
