Office 2003 SR1 Update won't install !

On my computer, I'm unable to install successfully the
Office 2003 SR1 Update, by unknown reasons.
I just get the message "failed". I dont know why.

On my computers is installed an official version of
Office 2003 Professional, running under Windows 2000 SP4.

The Update is Office 2003 Service Pack 1
(Typical download size: 64.7 MB)

What can the reason be that it won't install ?

Another problem is that after I've installed the new
Microsoft Update program (that handles both Ofiice updates
and Windows updates), the system repeatedly suggests that
I download the Office 2003 Service Pack 1 Update, even
when it's already downloaded to my system. (The old Office
Update program recognised that it was already downloaded).
How can I get rid of this nagging ?

Same problem here except it was with "Security Update for Word 2003
(KB887979)". Also, there are 5 updates that I was not interested in
so I told the update site to NOT show them any more. However, I keep
getting reminded that they are available for download on my computer
via the notify option of XP.

I see that under the admin option on the site that you can revert back
to the prior update site. I am going to do that until M$ gets its act
together or at least together in this specific Snafu.

MS seems to have gotten its act together (on one point) already:
Today a message apperas that says
Download size (total): 0 KB *)
Estimated time at your connection speed: 0 minutes *)
*) Downloaded; ready to install
