Office 2003 STE > Office 2003 Pro

Howdy all.

I've been using Office 2003 STE for about a year. Now I need Access 2003 and
a buddy of mine has a never used CD of Office 2003 Pro that he will give me
free. Can I install it over STE or am I likely to have a mess on me hands?

If I can't what steps do I need to take if I have to uninstall STE and
install Pro so I won't lose Outlook msgs, contacts, appointments etc. ??

Rob,

Consider the fact that STE is not upgradeable, I would recommend backing up
all of your stuff, uninstall the STE, reboot, install Pro.

I can't help you with the details about saving settings, etc but I knew I
could give you a good reason to do the full install.

Yah, I know it's not upgradeable...logically you'd think you could if the
over-installing product was a full version of a higher product though.

Imagine my surprise when I successfully installed Access 2003 Upgrade to
Office 2003 STE. I thought I'd need a qualifying upgrade so I found an old
unused CD of Office XP Pro and ended up not needing it. I wonder what
qualified for the upgrade...just curious!

It could be that adding Access 2003 to an Office 2003 edition was within the
rules but you probably can't upgrade Office 2003 STE to Office 2007.

Ima thinkin's the same thang.
Not gonna try to upgrade to 2007 at least until 2007.75 minmum - by then
it'll be time to reformat C: anyway.
