I boght a used computer and every time I try to open an attachment in email
it has a problem finding the office program (e.g., power point, access,
excel, word).

The message I get is the following:

Error 1327. Invalid Drive: D:\

I have to respond to two displays of the above error windo by clicking OK,
and then I have to click File Open and go find the file to open it up.

I've looked in the Explorer window and cannot find a drive D:\.

Anyone with any ideas?

Assuming your used PC came with all the win & software cd's then clean
install win, after all you don't know what nasties reside on this PC, or
other embarrassing / illegal files exist.
If you werent supplied with the cd's, then you'll finish up with a
paperweight

Thanks for the information. I do have the CDs but was hoping to avoid having
to do a complete re-install, is that possible?

Any second hand PC should routinely be reformatted and have all appropriate
software reinstalled. Even if I got the computer from a priest (heck
especially from a priest now days ;-)) I would dump anything on it and
reinstall. If not for the possibility of illegal software or pictures, just
for the piece of mind that I don't have a hidden virus or other malware on
it that may infect something else on my network.

The reason you can't find a drive D is that there was a previous hard drive
in the system that has been removed (and registry or programs are looking
for files in it) or the computer was attached to a network and that network
resource no longer exists.

See
http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?form=MSHOME&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=error+1327
and select the program you are using for further assistance with the invalid
drive. Still suggest redoing the computer.

I certainly will reformat and reinstall the PC. I just got it the other day
and have not had much time to play with it. I believe the guy had it
connected to his personal business network in the warehouse. I did some work
for him helping set up an Access database for shipping and receiving, but
never worked on this particluar computer.

I'll also check into the site you provided.

Thanks,
Mike
