Office 2003 Unattractive Appearance

I have installed Office 2003 Pro and am disappointed with
the ugly appearance of the icons in Word, Excel etc. In
Office XP they were sharp and elegant looking whereas now
they are fuzzy and dark and unattractive. Is there a way
of changing the appearance back to the Office XP look
short of uninstalling Office 2003 and reinstalling Office
XP?

Check the color-depth of your Windows display settings. Many icons do not
look terribly good without alpha-channel blending in 32bit color mode.

There are no Office alternates.
