Ok i accidently did not pay attetion and i installed my office on a server c
drive, so i uninstalled and and was going to install it on d:\

nope not gonna happen

after i run the setup , and put in the key, the office setup disappears,
poof , here is what is in event viewer

event id 1000 category 100
Faulting application msiexec.exe, version 3.1.4000.1289, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x018f8276.

not much there, but if i look at mrs watson i get.

szAppName : msiexec.exe szAppVer : 3.1.4000.1289 szModName : unknown
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 018f7316

following files will be included
C:\DOCUME~1\administrator\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\WER95c4.dir00\msiexec.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\administrator\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\WER95c4.dir00\appcompat.txt

the mdmp contents is a binary memory dump
appcompat is just details of my machine

also... the installer creates a log file since set up runs microsoft
installer like so

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe" /I "D:\MSOCache\All
Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9\PRO11.MSI" LAUNCHEDFROMSETUP=1
SETUPEXEPATH="D:\non backup files\mike\Office_2003\Office 2003\"
SETUPEXENAME=SETUP.EXE /lpiwaeov "C:\DOCUME~1\mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\Microsoft
Office 2003 Setup(0001)_Task(0001).txt" LOGVERBOSE=1
STANDALONEOSE="D:\MSOCache\All
Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9\FILES\SETUP\OSE.EXE" CDCACHE="1"
DELETABLECACHE="1" LOCALCACHEDRIVE="D"
DWSETUPLOGFILE="C:\DOCUME~1\administrator\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\Microsoft Office
2003 Setup(0001).txt"
DWMSILOGFILE="C:\DOCUME~1\mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\Microsoft Office 2003
Setup(0001)_Task(0001).txt

here is the not so great log stuff

6/7/2005 6:53:40 PM Chained install return code: -1073741819

Exit code was an error.
Shutting down chained setup processing.
Error returned from install, removing cache.

im guessing i cant find that return code on microsoft.com because this is
windows server 2003?
