I updated Windows XP with XPSP2 then I had the Microsoft
Office website check my installation for necessary
updates. It found that an update with SP1 was necessary.
When the webpage came up to download from, it stated that
the update required was 0 KB in size. I proceeded anyway
and it downloaded something but, when it ran, it said it
couldn't install the update. Then, I downloaded the full
update install and it got to the point of trying to
install it but also came up with the message that it
couldn't install the update: "The update cannot be
installed." . I did an Office 2003 installation repair
successfully. I retried the SP1 update sequence and it
also failed: "The update cannot be
installed.". What's the problem????? As well, since I
did a repair to Office 2003 with the install CD, did it
wipe out the previous critical and other Office 2003
updates?
