Office 2003 Updates Online Erroneously Detects Macintosh

I have a machine that is using an administrative install point for Office
2003 Professional slipstreamed with Office 2003 SP2, and a handful of recent
security updates.

I have installed Office 2003 on a Windows XP Pro laptop, and when I try to
connect to the Microsoft Office Downloads page
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx) and run the
"Check for Updates" utility, I get the following message:

Sorry, the Office Update site does not support Office for Mac
Office for Macintosh updates can be found on the Mactopia site.

The machine previously had Office 2003 installed from another installation
source. The online update utility works fine on another workstation that has
had Office 2003 installed from my same administrative installation point. I
suspect that there is some registry setting or something that is messing it
up. Has anyone else run into this issue? I have uninstalled, cleaned off
all the user profiles, temp files, deleted C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office,
rebooted, and reinstalled and still get the same message on this workstation
running XP.

Anyone else run into this issue?

I should also note that I am using IE, and there are no other non-Windows
firewalls or anything else that might be blocking the site. The Windows XP
machine is patched, and the update utility works fine from other workstations
in the domain.

Here's a little update on some steps I'm taking to try to get to the bottom
of this problem:

I tried completely uninstalling Office 2003 by using the instructions on
http://www.officearticles.com/misc/remove_microsoft_office_from_your_pc.htm

I also deleted the folder C:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate11 in the hopes that
Office Updates would correctly recognize the client machine.

Unfortunately, Office Update still thinks this Windows XP laptop is a
Macintosh.

<sigh>

Thanks for the reply! I checked out that article and unfortunately, it did
not help resolve the problem. I am not running any of the applications
specified (personal firewalls, etc.). It is identical to many other machines
