If I install Office 2003 from the cd or compressed cd image as a Local
Installation source on the client, will I be able to manage updates from WSUS
or WUS?

Hi M.,

The MS Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) has a
Release candidate (pre release) package available
for evaluation. WSUS is planned to support Office
updates along with other MS software. This is a FAQ
page that also links to the eval copy and to the newsgroups
for that product.

WSUS is the new name for Windows Update Services and
is to be the replacement for Software Update Services (SUS)

Hi Bob,

thank you for your reply, I know that Wsus/wus will update office 2003. My
problem is will Wsus/wus update if the install is from the cd or compressed
cd Installation source on the client. We have been installing via GPO from
an admin iinstallation point and if the client hasn't been re-cached since a
SP has been applied WSUS/WUS cannot update the client. So were thinking of
installing with the local source on the client.
