I try to get my Ms Office 2003 updates but the link comes
up with a "you dont have admin rights or - MSI is
incorrect" I do have admin rights (user -
administrators) and we reloaded the MSI, still no luck in
obtaining updates. Anyone have any ideas.

Where are you getting the MSI files from. I have been looking for the MSI
file to patch my office installs through AD. All I can find is the .exe files
and I need a MSI.

Did you ever get an answer?

I had this same problem,
Was on with tech support for 1 hr and did alot of
uninstalls reinstalls and etc.
nothing worked. until this and this is the solution.
You have to uninstall office 2003 manually.
Tech support walked me through it since you have to delete
a bunch of registry keys first. then folders then a lot
of stuff.
It works now.
Tech support said that doing a detect and repair or a add
remove programs uninstall does not uninstall all
references to office and that is what has to be done.

Daryl, are you sure that it fixed the problem? I wonder
if it would be easier just to restore the laptop
completely.
