Office 2003 Upgrade

Is it true that if you install Office 2003 Professional
or other Office 2003 editions on your computer, the
programs (i.e. word, excel, access,etc.) will not
recognize or will not be able to access files or other
documents that were created on Office XP or Office 2000
editions?
