Office 2003 Upgrade

I

Itsme

I am testing the process for upgrading Office SP3 (Win XP SP1) to Office
2003 SP1 and have a question:
I am using the CIW to create a mst, can I specify the CIW to run the Office
2003 SP1 update at the end of the installation?

Just be careful!!!! I have posted here for more than a week now trying to
resolve problems created using the strategies from Microsoft suggested by
Susan. The Fullfile SP3 Patch DOES create two MSP files which you have to
use to patch your original MSI administrative Install files. However, all I
ever got was wasted time, frustration, and STILL no SP3 patched Admin
install point, as the command line suggested to patch the MSI files only
resulted in cryptic errors about an invalid Microsoft image. (Even after
mutiple downloads using different PCs and ISPs).

So, I guess my advice is, be sure to have a PLAN F, G, H, I, J, and K
available, plus a fair amount of time and patience. I have STILL not
successfully deployed this FEATURE from Microsoft, though today's searches
suggested wiping out sections of the registry on my AD DC where the admin
install point is located.

Steve

PS - If anyone has some insights into this patching problem I would be
eternally grateful, and would, once again, be happy to post or email the two
MSI Log files and the CMD file used to try to apply the patch. GOOD LUCK!

PPS - Sorry! I accidentally posted directly to Susan alone. So, I've
reported to whole group as suggested. Guess THAT sort of shoots my
credibility all to #$%% and gone ;{) - Steve

Hi, Stephen,

What name were you posting under before? I don't see previous posts in this
group under the same name.

Sorry, Susan. It appears I was posting in the Office.Setup group. I would
be happy to try to move that post over here if you want, or you can find it
under my name over there. Frustration seems to have dimmed my wits, and so I
didn't notice the "mouse slip" from the group above to this group.
