Hi
I have office 2003 pro & was wondering if upgrading to 2007 is worth
it?

Are you happy with 2003?
Having reviewed 2007 on MS site there anything there that you feel is a
'must have'
Or if you have excess funds & want to spend, go ahead

A question I always would ask myself,
is there anything that I need to be able to do, that I can do in the new
version that I can not in the old version.

You can always either download a trial version or use the on-line test drive
to see for yourself if it is worth the cost.

Some folks run away screaming and others take to its simplicity immediately.
I would definitely recommend trying before buying.

Free Trials:

Test Drive: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101687261033.aspx

After all, only you can evaluate the value f orhow you use Office so why not
give it a spin, even if only a virtual spin?

"Some folks run away screaming and others take to its simplicity immediately. "
Simplicity is NOT a suitable word to describe the Ribbon UI. Confusing,
illogical, counter productive are far more fitting description.

Maybe in your world, but people I have talked to enjoy the fact that the
ribbon has increased their productivity and has helped them discover
features they did not know existed.

You do NOT speak for all users.

Maybe in YOUR world, Milly. The people I have spoken to personally AND seen
tons of posts both here and elsewhere, clearly indicate that MANY long
term/power users have found the Ribbon to be counterproductive. Beginners
seem to like it much better. Many longterm/power users have reported that now
it takes them much longer to accomplish the very same tasks with the new UI.
Despite tall claims from MS and the pro-UI crowd re the wonders of the new
UI, the fact remains that there's no hard data to back up those claims.

I've even seen posts where the posters have reported that some companies
have reverted back to 2003, following complaints from their employees. Then
there are those who are "captive" users (i.e. they're forced to use Office
2007 in the workplace) who would much rather use Office 2003.

Bottom line: your claims of user liking the Ribbon definitely do NOT apply
to all users. Period! Claiming that as a universal truth is nothing but a
blatant distortion of the truth.
You do NOT speak for all users.
Neither do you, Milly. You'd do well to remember that yourself.
