office 2003 Vista compatability? version does not match...

I installed my Office Basic Edition 2003 on my new Lenovo computer that has
Vista. When I open a word document a window pops up and says "Office
application version does not match" I click "ok" to continue, then the
license agreement comes up and I click on "agree". This happens every time I
start a new word document.
How do I get the 'version to match'?
Thanks for any input you can share....I am not terribly computer savy so
step by step 'instructions' would be most helpful - or enough info that I can
take action!

Did you have a Trial version on your new computer? Of so did you
uninstall it first?

Office Basic Edition 2003 is OEM and is only legally provided with a new
PC and is non-transferable. It lives and dies on the PC it originally
came installed on.
