Office 2003 with a separate fax machine?

Can I use a separate fax machine (HP) with Office 2003? If so, how do I set
it up?

Not without third party software. As shipped, Outlook 2003 uses the Windows
2000 or Windows XP Fax service for faxing and neither of these services can
be used to drive an external Fax machine, they can ONLY operate a standard
analog Fax modem. You would need a third party application that
understands both Outlook 2003 and the HP Fax machine.
