Office 2003 won't install - incomplete service pack

Hi

I've just got a new laptop with XP Pro on it. I'm trying to load Office
2003, but am having some problems!

I'm getting error message:

"Setup has detected an incomplete Windows XP service pack installation on
your computer. Office will not run properly until this has been completed"

I ran update and had problems there: 0x8007043b. After a bit of digging, I
added WUAUSERV and BITS to the SvcHost process and this seemed to cure it -
lots of updates, except now update keeps telling me it has a new update, and
every time it is: "Security Update for Windows XP (KB835732)". THis seems to
download and install OK, but seconds later update is telling me it has a new
update...guess what... it's KB835732!

Anyway, after going round that loop a few times - I'm still getting the
incomplete service pack error when I try to install Office. Not sure if it
related to KB835732 as it is the same message I was getting before I
installed any updates at all.

Please help!

I am having basically the same problem. I am having to reinstall Office
2000. I have the CD and the Code Information, and it appears to install
(setup) and shows up in the directory. But, when I try to open one of the
components, I get a message telling me that the component must be installed
in order to use it. I have Windows XP operating system. I have never had
problems reinstalling this program. Any suggestions?
