What are you trying to enable the macros in? Document? Template? Add-in?

cannotenablemacros

Dear Ms. Barnhill...Document or Template but I do not know for sure. When I
open Word I always get an error box that says, "The macros in this
application are disabled..." I must X-out -it twice to remove the error box.
Then the application begins to fuction. I have open the change box and have
tried to click on every "+" I could find. Someone suggested that my problem
is in the "registry."

Thank you for responding,

The usual message is "The macros in this project are disabled," and the
title bar of the message box indicates the application or project involved.
In the Tools | Macro | Security dialog, select Medium for the security
level. This will allow you to have a choice of enabling or disabling macros.
Also, on the Trusted Sources tab, check the box for "Trust all installed
templates and add-ins." When you do this, all the macros in templates in
your user templates and workgroup templates folders will be trusted, as will
those in Word's Startup folder. Unfortunately, the trust does not extend to
add-ins in the Office Startup folder, so you will still get a message about
those, but you will probably have an opportunity to choose to trust the
publisher of the macros.

Suzanne I am having the same problem with the message.
My macro button in the tools dialog cannot be highlighted, there must be
something wrong with it. also the options and customize buttons wont work in
the tools dialog.
Can you please tell me how I can go from there.
Thank you,
Shia

Assuming the document is not protected in some way (such as for forms), it
may be that your corporate IT has locked down either Word in general or
specific templates. If it's Word in general, Normal.dot, someone needs to
explain to them why this is a Very Bad Idea.

this is a private computer and I just updated to word 03.
I dont know what to do.
I uninstalled office and then reinstalled it.
I still have the same problem.
What does normal.dot mean?
I have a normal template, is that it? should I change to a new template?

Do you have a document open when you are trying to do this? Have you
activated Word?
