I am trying to define a Workgroup Template path location with group
policy according to MS article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890294.
The policy is applying ok and the path is showing up in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common
\General\SharedTemplates.
However, when I open Word and go to Tools > Options > File Locations
the Workgroup Templates field is still blank. If I manually enter a
path within Word, I can see the registry update in the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\General
\SharedTemplates.
I am not using transforms to install Office as our machines come
preinstalled with Office OEM directly from Dell. Anyone know if this
policy only applies if you use a transform to install Office? It
seems silly that a group policy will only apply if you do a custom
installation. If so, any suggestions on how to force an entry into
the Workgroup Template path location in Office?
The workstations are XP with SP2 and the domain is 2003.
