Office 2003 XP with Vista Operating System

Hello,
I purchased a new computer with the Vista Operating System and I hope
someone out there can advise me if it's possible to load Office 2003XP with a
Office 2007 Upgrade without difficulty and if so, how? I don't want to
purchase a brand new Office Suite if I don't absolutely have to. Can you
load 2003 Office XP and then load the 2007 Office Upgrade?

I am an amateur at this so be gentle! :)

First ensure you have uninstalled any Office trial, that may be pre
installed by your PC supplier.
Install from Office 2007 cd, when it complains about no qualifying
application, swap cd with your earlier version, once verified, swap cd and
continue.
PS There isnt an Office 2003 XP, there are 2003 & 2002(XP) versions

Hi DL,
I told you I was an amateur. Windows 2003 Microsoft Office Suite that runs
on XP operating system. At least according to my hubbie. I misuderstood
what he was saying. Thanks for sharing this information. I will be sure to
uninstall the promo Office Suite before I load the other as directed.

Thanks a bunch

Hi JoAnn,

Thanks for sharing and I am so glad you clarified the pointing part. LOL I
appreciate you taking the time to respond.

First, you need to know: It's either Office XP (aka 2002) or it's Office
2003.

Second, you don't need to install the older version before the newer one.
Start the installation of 2007. When it asks for the application, insert the
older version CD and point to it. (I'm hoping you're not so much of an
amateur that you literally point your finger to it. ;-) )

I have a simlar problem. I have MS Office Professional Edition 2003 and just
bought a VISTA machine. I only have my folders with the various components
and I do have my product code keys, but when I tried to launch OUTLOOK 2003,
my new computer says I have the wrong operating system. How can I download
something (and where) so I can use my old program.

Thanks

JoAnn -

Apparently there are quite a few novice out there - I recently purchased a
new laptop that has Vista as the operating system and own a copy of Windows
XP (2002) - Can I load it on the laptop and not upgrade to 2007? Most of my
files are in Windows XP and I am afraid I might lose some of them?

Cheers - Terri D.

NO (I'm strongly emphasizing, not yelling) Do not put that Windows XP CD in
your laptop.

Windows XP is an operating system, like Vista. It does not contain Word,
Excel, etc. that's Office. Your files will be fine but you are going to need
a program to edit them with. That's where Office and others come into play.
