Hi

Why is Office 03 not backward compatible with some of my
word documents. The formatting is changed even though it
appears as if the settings are the same as other documents.

thanks

Backward compatible with what? Changes in formatting for old documents
probably more related to a change in printer driver and fonts than
anything else.

Don't think of Word documents as fixed format. A Word document is
"source code" which describes how to create a document. Depending on
what program (printer, file, Adobe, document imaging, etc.) Word
interacts with to create the document, you may and will get differences.

If you wish to fix the format (and content/version) of a document for
publishing, then "fix" it on paper or in Adobe PDF or something like that.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
