Office 2003

Hi. I found out today that my version of Office 2003, is not genuine. What
does that mean? Will I have to delete it? I spose I wont be able to get the
relevant updates for it, if it's not genuine, will I? Any other info would be
appreciated.
TIA

Exactly how did you find out your copy was not valid?

How did you obtain the software? Vendor, friend, etc. Do you have a
holographic CD and a certificate of authenticity with the installation key
or was the product included with a computer?

The reason I ask is that the genuine validation tool from Microsoft will
make mistakes at times.

There was an office 2003 validation update that downloaded yesterday. And
today when I booted up my machine a blue symbol in the task bar showed up.
Saying, "Get genuine office". The copy I used was a copy from a relative. It
wasn't a holographice cd. And it did have a code with it. But now I dont have
a copy of it. Should I delete it, and use Open Office?

Sounds like a winner to me. The version you have was obviously not genuine
(pirated) so I would recommend uninstalling and using Open Office unless you
want to purchase Office 2007.

Thx for clarifying that for me. I still have the "Get genuine office" icon, in the task bar. If I buy Office, will that disappear, and if I dont will I be stuck with it?

You will need to uninstall Microsoft Office from your computer to get rid of
the message.
