Office 2003 is installed. used to have Office 2000.
when i check for updates, the scan takes place, then
requires office 2000 sp1. why would office 2003 need a
service pack from office 2000? the download is extremly
large!! >40meg :-(

If you have programs left over from Office 2000 (FrontPage, PhotoDraw,
Publisher), it may be detecting that these programs require updating. Check
under Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs to see if any Office 2000 programs
are still installed.

An additional thing you can do, since uninstalls are all too frequently not
the clean m eticulous event the little gui progress bars seem to represent,
is to see if your any of your Office 2000 programs are listed when you run
this free application from MSFT:

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
