Can I run Office 2004 and 2008 at the same time?
I would like to use Office 2008 but I still need to run Excel 2004 for VBA
and Macros needs.
Thanks.

Sure, there is no problem, except that you should not try to run both
versions of entourage. My suggestion is to upgrade to Office 2008, let
entourage update your identity and use that version. You can run WORD, EXCEL
and PowerPoint side by side with their earlier versions.

I was also wondering is there any way to install Office 2008 and just keep Word 2004? Or alternatively is there any way to delete specific applications from the previous sweet so that i can install the office mac 2008 and then keep word only from office mac 2004?

Thanks

Yes, Each is installed in it's own folder. Just be aware that you should
install 2004 first. Entourage 2008 moves fonts to a different location
disabling the older 2004 fonts. If you install 2004 AFTER 2008 it will just
reinstall them.

Office 2008 Font Install:

Office 2008 uses a different method for fonts and many fonts are new
versions. Office 2008 will install fonts to the /Library/Fonts/Microsoft
folder. By being at the root, then all users on the machine have access to
them and you don't get Office 2008 putting multiple copies on the machine
for each user.

The installer will scour /Library/Fonts/ and ~/Library/Fonts/ for fonts with
the same name and move them to /Library/Disabled Fonts/ or
~/Library/Disabled Fonts/ depending on where they were found.

Thanks,
So I understand I can still run macros in Excel 2004; that means Office 2004
is not eliminated by the Office 2008 installation?

Absolutely not a problem - I run both 2008 and 2004 on all of my Macs, often
simultaneously. The one exception is Entourage. If you use it pick one
version or the other (I'd suggest 2008) & stay with it. Once the database &
other files are upgraded reusing 2004 will blow them up.

Not really, Entourage 2004 will not even see or have access to the Entourage
2008 Identity unless you manually move it. It would be better to say
Entourage versions do NOT share an Identity. You cannot use Entourage 2008
then decide you want to go back to Entourage 2004 easily. The databases are
not compatible.

You could have Entourage 2004 run for Account A, and Entourage 2008 run for
Account B, but then why would you?

OK, so I have an occasional flair for the dramatic compounded by hyperbolic
license ;-)
