Office 2004 and earlier: Screen problem with Word documents

O

Oz Springs

The toolbars across the top of the screen under the Menu bar have
since Word 2000 been "floating" that is you can put a document window
underneath them.

I have recently discovered that if I do this, then when I reopen the
document (in Word 2000, Word X or Word 2004) the top of the document
has lodged itself firmly under the Menu Bar. I can work on the
document but I can't move it around and cannot use the "close,
minimize, or resize" buttons along the top of the window as they
hidden by the menu bar along with the top bar essential for moving the
window around.

The only workaround is to copy the document (excluding the last
paragraph mark) into a new document and make sure I don't close the
document when it is under any top toolbars.

I am using OS10.3.5 and Apple 17in flat screen (the startup screen).
and a second Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2045u 21in screen. The problem
only happens when the document is partly or wholly on the Apple
screen. When it is partly on the 21in screen, the document is wedged
to beyond the top of the screen with the top bar of the document
window hidden.

I have changed the screen display arrangements several times, but this
does not change Word's behaviour.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you found a
workaround?

Thanks for any help

No, no - just choose Window > Zoom. m.
