Office 2004 disappeared

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I read the article regarding someone updating to Leopard and losing office 2004 capability. I have a new Leopard and have been using the Office 2004 student edition for several months. Now it is gone. the icons are on the dock, but when I click them, they show a question mark. Looking in applications shows nothing related to microsoft. Should I just reinstall the office 2004? Why did it disappear? Is there something else I should do instead? the other article got too long and involved for me to follow since I am not sure if it is the same problem. i did try to download some Excel templates last night, and some did not want to work at all. Does this have anything to do with it? Thank you so much whoever has a clue about this. Totally new to macs.

First be sure you have updated to 10.5.2. Lots of improvements since Leopard
was released.

Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update

Office for Mac 2004 should be installed in the root Application folder.
Perhaps you moved it to a new location or accidentally deleted it. That
would cause the Dock icons give you the questions mark.

Do a search for Microsoft Office 2004 to see if you can find the folder. I
would also look in the trash.

If it's missing, re-install and update. You can find all updaters here:

Cheers and Welcome to Mac! I have a few tips and links posted to help new
