Office 2004 Disappears

I am insatlling Office 2004 on a cube. It goes through the install
process but as soon as I click finished on the install
wizard...nothing. The apps are nowhere to be found. Not on the hard
drive. I was wondering if this could be a license issue. I do have
the sofwtare installed on my laptop but I thought I could install on
both but that if I tried to use them simultaneously on the same
network I would get an alert. Both machines are running os x 10.3.4.

Help gratefully received.

Hi Jon,

Sorry to ask questions instead of offer suggestions, but....

Are you using the installer or doing a drag-n-drop install?

Did you use Finder to search for any of the file names, like Word or
Entourage to see if the programs were installed in a location you didn't
expect?

Did you run Disk Utility to Repair Permissions either before or after the
install process?

Have you run Disk Warrior?

Hi Jim,

Yes I did all of those things - it just wasn't there - the only thing
that had installed was an MS data folder in the documents folder for
the user. I did a custom install - did it a couple of times actually.
Since then I have got it to work by completly disconnecting the
computer from the airport network (in fact all outside connections) -
installed the sofwtare - reconnected everything and it now works fine.

Hi Jon,

That is very odd, and I would never have thought to try that.

I am very glad that you did and even happier that you took the time to post
your solution to the newsgroup. Your comments will likely save a lot of
hair-pulliing for someone in the future :)

Please visit often and post more stuff. Good ideas are always welcome here.
