Office 2004 Excel

When I start to work on a spreadsheet, trying to enter NEW information
in a cell...Excel goes into
the same mode and won/t stop...I have to force quit....
I have tried the following:
trashing pref's
checking users, documents, Microsoft user date (for floating doc's)
finally reinstalling Excel...
I think it may have to do with the OS (10.4.8)
this never ocurred with older O.S.'s.
I have contacted Microsoft and went thru the above...they were
stumped...

What version of XL are you using, and is it fully updated?

Also, what do you mean by "same mode"? Nobody here has any idea what that
mode is. More descriptive detail would be most helpful.

Did you use Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after the 10.4.8 update?
If not, do that now - if *so*, do it again - then restart the Mac & see if
that rectifies the problem.
