Hi everyone,
I have Office 2004 installed (had it since 2004) I have updated
11.3..5 and 11.3.6 but each time I try and open a word or xcel etc I
get the following: Upgrade Verification.....this software is an
upgrade to an earlier version of the software....to continue
installation browse and select folder that contains the earlier
software - I do this but get another error message: "the upgrade
cannot be verified"......the folder you selected does not contain
software that can be upgraded. Problem is the folder does contain the
software for upgrade as there is no other folder. I have stripped out
ALL microsoft apps and then reinstalled from the original
CD.......still same error messages........downloaded updates 11.3.5.
and 11.3.6 and installed them separately but no difference. Now
Microsoft not playing I cant access any of my previous documents or
the applications themselves.............hoping against hope that
someone out there knows what I don't. Please email me direct if you
think you can help. I am running a G4 with 1.25gb of memory using
Tiger 10.4.10.........thanks for any help.

When you say stripped out, did you use "Remove Office" or drag and drop to
the trash?

My suggestion would be to

1. use "Remove Office" (this gets hidden files that drag/drop does not)
2. install the latest Apple combo updater
3 Restart
4. Run Repair Permissions
5. Install Office from CD then update 11.3.5 --> 11.3.6

If that fails you would need to do an "Archive & Install".

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

requests as yours. We learn from your feedback to help others.

Hiya,
did you buy the office 2004 as a separate install or rather as upgrade
to previous version of office?
