Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive removal

My daughter's Macbook recently crashed and the hard drive was
replaced. She tried to install her Office 2004 for Mac full version
(a legal copy with a legit product key) without removing the Test
Drive version and now neither will work. I have removed the full
version so I can go back and remove the Test Drive version, but when I
click on the "remove office" icon in the Office 2004 for Mac Test
Drive folder in Applications, the pink icon appears for a second in
the Mac tool bar at the bottom of the screen and nothing else
happens. Basically, I double clik the application and it does not
run. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how I can remove this
Test Drive application so I can reinstall the full version? Any ideas
will be much appreciated.

If memory serves correctly (though I cannot check at the moment), you
should find another "remove office" tool on the installation CD. Try
running that.

To remove the Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive
1.. Quit any programs that are running.
2.. On your hard disk, open the Microsoft Office 2004 folder that contains
the Test Drive.
3.. If you saved any documents in the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, move
them to another location.
4.. In the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, double-click Remove Office.
5.. Click Continue.
6.. In the Results window, click Microsoft Office 2004 (including Test
Drive) and then click Continue to move that folder to the Trash. Follow the
instructions on the screen.

Those were the directions I was following. At step 4, when I double
click "remove office", the pink "remove office" icon pops up in the
MAC tool bar at the bottom of the screen, kind of bounces up and dow a
couple of times and then disappears.Steps 5 and 6 never happen.

Another thought is that it might be the QuickTime update problem:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306043

That did it. It was the Quicktime 7.2 problem. Found a Quicktime 7.2
patch on the OS X update site and after installation and reboot the
remove office application worked like a champ. I think that was
probably the same problem I was having with the installation of the
Office for Mac full version which was presenting the same symptoms. I
should be good to go now. Thanks very much.
