So much for that theory. - Okay, so did it come with Office 2004 on it?
If so, that would be a demo version. Or did you install it? If you did,
did you make sure to uninstall the demo version if there was one? Can't
think of anything else - need more of a clue...! m.

There was a demo version on it and I removed that, but after I
installed 2004. I got the error and then saw the demo version in the
application folder. I ran the removal tool and deleted everything. Then
I re-installed 2004 and everything but Word works fine. I get that
error when I try to open the application. I also ran all of the updates
for 10.4 as well as Office 2004. It almost seems as there is a missing
or corrupt file causing the error. I just can't find any posts or info
on what to look for. Microsoft wants $35.00 and I don't feel like
giving them more money. I did find a link pertaining to the same error
but it was for PC's and they mentioned a bad registry key. The gave a
fix, but it doesn't pertain to MAC's. Any help would be greatful.

All right, let's assume you really really really did remove *everything*
connected with Office using the removal tool. It sounds as if Word is
having trouble saving its temporary file. Do you have more than one User
on this machine? If not, could you try this: make one (go into System
Preferences > Accounts), then log out and log in as that other User, and
see if Word works there? Don't try to open any documents - just try to
start up Word.

I only have one user, I will try again on Friday when I am back home
and able to create a second one. I will let you know how it works.
Let's keep our fingers crossed. Chat soon...
