Office 2004 Install Problem

Like Jonzy, I did not know that Office 2004 Test Drive was on my new
iMac when I installed the full version. Not to worry: I ran the removal
application from my hard drive. But it gave me a choice between
removing Office X (yet another version of this suite is on the computer
??) and Office 2004, both with "Test Drive Included." I reluctantly
chose the Office X, all of which had no effect on removing the Office
2004 Test Drive application. Now when I want to access WORD, just the
Test Drive version comes up. What should I do? Drag the Test Drive
folder to the trash? Run the removal app. from the Office CD? Remove
both the Test Drive version and the real version? Just let the Test
Drive version expire in three weeks and then let it sit there forever
neutered? To compound my frustration, I have only one installation left
on my Teacher/Student Edition of Office 2004, so I've got to get all
this right. Thanks for any direction you might give.

First, run the Remove Office app from the 2004 install CD and remove
anything it finds of v.X, Test Drive 2004, and Office 2004.

Second, Reinstall Office, and update with SP1 from Mactopia:

Third, your S/T edition comes with three *licenses*, not three
*installations*. You can remove and reinstall Office every day if you
want to, you just can't run on more than three machines simultaneously.

THANK YOU, JE McGimpsey!! I followed the first two steps and am now all
set with just one copy of OFFICE 2004 on my hard drive. I did, however,
have to run the REMOVE OFFICE app. about three times. Although the
program told me that it had removed the selected items and moved them
to the trash, the trash can showed no contents. Finally, I decided to
empty it anyway. Voila! The blue activiity bar came up, indicating that
something was in there. I'm so relieved to have discovered Google
Groups. It's awful to be alone with computer problems. Thanks
again.---Judy
