Office 2004 Installation General Question

R

Rotund

There is nothing in the Office 2004 package that instructs what to do
with the old Office X applications. I was surprised to see that
Office 2004 is completely new application installation - and not a
modification of base code of the old Office X.

What should I do - just delete the old Office X apps? Any danger to
this?

Thanks

I ran Office 2004 in parallel for a day until I was sure 2004 doesn't have
anything major to worry me. I then just deleted the old vX folder, and also
the user's folder for vX. No problems.

If you want to completely remove Office X after you install Office 2004,
feel free to do so. Here is how to do a complete removal:
1. Launch the Remove Office tool, located in HD/Applications/Microsoft
Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office.
2. Press the "Continue" button to locate currently installed copies of
Office.
3. Select "Microsoft Office X," and press the "Continue" button.
4. Choose what components you wish to remove. For a complete removal,
choose to "Remove the Office X folder," "Remove the selected Office X
system files," and "Preferences." (and anything else related if it is found)

When your data has successfully imported into Entourage 2004, you can also
manually delete your Office X identity (located in ~/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/Office X Identities/).

("~" = Go -> Home or HD/Users/<Your User>/)
